What is FST
Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST™) is widely regarded as the world’s premier stretching technique.
FST™ is the leading science-backed intervention for stretching the fascial system throughout the entire body. Rather than just stretching specific muscles, FST™ incorporates gentle traction and movement of the limbs and decompression of the joints to create space and length in the fascial tissues, promoting optimal movement and function.

Assisted stretching, but better!
It is a gentle, yet effective way to release tension in the fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds and supports our muscles.
FST™ is a table-based assisted stretching technique that goes beyond any stretching you’ve tried before. FST™ involves decompression of the joints to allow for greater flexibility, restoring range of motion, improved posture and reduced pain and discomfort.
A Fascial Stretch Therapist holds and manipulates the client’s body into dynamic and passive stretches that cannot be achieved on their own. FST specifically targets and unwinds the different fascial nets that run through the body.

1
How is FST different from traditional stretching?
Unlike traditional stretching, FST incorporates a combination of traction, oscillation and neuromuscular techniques to elongate and release tension in the fascia. This approach improves flexibility, mobility and joint function, while also addressing imbalances and restrictions within the fascial system. FST goes beyond simply loosening up the muscles as in traditional stretching, and focuses on complete fascial nets throughout the body, along with the joint capsules. FST involves decompression of the joints to allow for greater flexibility, restoring range of motion, improved posture and reduced pain and discomfort.

What is Fascia?
Fascia is connective tissue. Specifically, it is the web-like multi-layered casing that surrounds muscles, nerve fibres, organs, bone, and blood vessels to keep them secure. It offers support which allows muscles to contract and stretch while also supporting joints, organs, and muscles to work together without causing injury. With healthy fascia, muscle tension throughout the body is reduced, circulation is improved, and all the body systems work smoothly together.
WHAT CAUSES FASCIA TO GET TIGHT?
There are a few causes as to why fascia gets tight. Sitting all day without movement or physical activity results in stiffness in the fascia and muscles, resulting in limited mobility. Poor posture, chronic inflammation, a sedentary lifestyle, and repetitive movements are other common causes of tight fascia.

What to expect from your FST session?
FST is conducted on a massage table. This table-based assisted stretching technique is performed by a certified Fascial Stretch Practitioner, who brings your body into gentle stretches that could not be achieved alone. The client wears comfortable stretchy clothing or gym wear. The table will have two elastic straps. The straps will keep one leg in place while the other can move
around. This encourages a thorough stretch, improving mobility, flexibility, and pain relief by targeting the fascia and joint capsules. Each treatment will vary depending on the client’s needs. However, each individual treatment makes progress in reducing pain and improving performance, sleep, and mobility. A 25-minute session will focus on restrictions in one joint or area. A 40-minute session will address either upper or lower body issues. A 70-minute session will be able to address both upper and lower body, or multiple joints.

How often should you do FST?
Recommendations may vary based on your goals. You will feel improvements after one session, but of course more sessions will yield greater results. In general, though, it is recommended to incorporate 3 fascial stretch therapy sessions to eliminate pain, improve flexibility and balance and have lasting effects on your posture and mobility.
Who Can Benefit from FST?
Everybody!
Senior Citizens - FST provides a gentle option for elderly clients who often experience restricted
physical movement. to improve mobility, balance, and proprioception.
Chronic pain - When the fascia and joint capsule can’t work correctly due to stiffness, the result is chronic pain. And thus, eliminating that source of stiffness directly in the fascia can provide relief. The muscles and joints can move more freely through fascial stretch therapy, reducing pain and improving mobility. This eliminates chronic pain effectively so you can go about your day or play sports without the discomfort of nagging stiffness and pain.
Posture – When our day jobs are sedentary or involve repetitive movements, our fascia becomes
tight and stuck in poor postural patterns. FST is the perfect, non-invasive therapy to encourage more
fluidity of movement, muscular balance, and improved posture.
Performance - Whether you’re playing sports or looking to reach your full potential in the gym,
fascial stretch therapy can help increase performance. Mobility, flexibility, endurance, and overall
performance are improved thanks to improved circulation and reduced stiffness in the joints and
muscles.
Recovery - Post-training, the goal is to recover fast to reduce soreness and stiffness, encourage
progress, and get back to training. If you aren’t recovering properly, your risk of injury goes up - and
the progress you see in your training goes down.
With fascial stretch therapy, the body recovers faster thanks to increased blood flow, which provides
vital nutrients to the muscles. This action reduces soreness and recovers the muscles faster for more
constructive recovery.
Rehab - If you’re determined to rehab an injury quicker, to come back stronger and better than
before, fascial stretch therapy can help. Your therapy session will target stiffness and soreness while improving mobility to strengthen the body throughout different ranges of motion. This will help to reduce the risk of further injury or re-strengthen the body during rehab.

Are you looking to eliminate chronic pain, improve flexibility, mobility, and posture, recover faster, and upgrade athletic performance? Then, you need to use fascial stretch therapy!
